Toko by Kojima Sohonten has been brewing sake in the Yonezawa region of Yamagata for over 420 years. We were lucky enough to try the entire range of sake from Toko during a brewery visit and each and every one was exceptional. Enjoy this trio of Junmai Ginjo sake that shows the skills of the Toji and diversity of Toko.

3 sake in this triple pack as follows:

Chokarakuchi For lovers of dry sake. Refreshing palate of green apple, orange and mild aniseed. Enjoy the lean texture and cleansing astringency.

A racy sake that will clear the palate between bites of your favourite foods. The finish is a much sought after clean and crisp style the Japanese call ‘Kire’.

Dewasansan An elegant sake made from Dewasansan rice with melon, cotton candy, hints of orange rind, blossom and lemongrass. Uncomplicated, refined sake that is a lesson in purity.

To place the Dewa 33 sticker on a bottle of sake it must pass a number of criteria. 1) Made from Dewasansan rice milled to at least 55% 2) Must be Junmai Ginjo 3) Must pass a strict tasting test by a panel of judges and reach a minimum level of Bloody Delicious.

Dewanosato This sake drinks much drier than its SMV of -4 might suggest, especially when well chilled. Made from 100% Yamagata rice and local yeast this sake is clean and refreshing. Imagine driving through Twin Peaks with melting snow surrounded by Douglas Firs while eating a fruit salad of starfruit, spearmint and pear. (Sakeshop by no means endorses drinking and driving).
